client objectives

Environment Canada posted a RFP on MERX in November 2001 for a design agency to create a series of 15 different posters in French and 15 different posters in English designed around the theme of sustainable development. traffic was chosen from the many entries to design and execute the project. The posters were to form a key component of the Environment Canada display at the Earth Summit 2002 in August in Johannesburg, South Africa.

design solution

The posters were of a scientific nature containing many graphs and charts and were aimed at an international scientific audience. Explaining the roles that 5 different Government agencies were taking, traffic designed a grid that relied on colours to differentiate the 5 different poster categories. An attractive photobar was created that allowed the posters to be visually appealing while also allowing a large area for complex scientific information to be conveyed.
